Legal and compliance
Ebun Acceptable Use Policy
This policy governs eligible platform use, project categories, donations, payout recipients, sanctions controls, transaction monitoring, and compliance enforcement.
Ebun provides a visible-giving platform for reviewed impact projects, verified partner organizations, approved institutions, approved vendors, and donors. This Acceptable Use Policy applies to all users of Ebun, including donors, organizations, institutions, vendors, recipients, campaign organizers, administrators, and anyone using Ebun to create, fund, administer, or receive funds from a project.
By using Ebun, you agree that you will not create, support, fund, receive, facilitate, or promote any project, transaction, payout, content, or activity that violates this policy, applicable law, payment-network rules, Stripe requirements, Paystack requirements, sanctions obligations, anti-money-laundering obligations, counter-terrorist-financing obligations, or Ebun platform controls.
1. Eligible Platform Use
Ebun may be used only for reviewed and approved impact projects that support legitimate education, health, humanitarian, religious, community, nonprofit, social-impact, environmental, poverty-relief, or similar charitable and accountable giving purposes.
Ebun is not an open-ended peer-to-peer crowdfunding platform, investment marketplace, money transmission service for users, political fundraising platform, lottery platform, lending platform, or marketplace for prohibited goods or services.
2. Sanctions, Restricted Parties, And Prohibited Jurisdictions
You may not use Ebun for the benefit of, or in connection with, any person, entity, organization, government, country, region, wallet, bank, intermediary, or counterparty that is sanctioned, embargoed, blocked, denied, restricted, or otherwise prohibited by applicable sanctions or export-control rules.
This includes restrictions maintained by OFAC, the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom, applicable African or Nigerian authorities, payment networks, Stripe, Paystack, banking partners, and any other authority or partner applicable to Ebun.
Ebun may screen users, campaign parties, beneficiaries, donors, payments, payout recipients, references, and related records before onboarding, publication, checkout, payout, and during ongoing monitoring.
3. Prohibited Activities
You may not use Ebun for:
- Money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, sanctions evasion, fraud, bribery, corruption, tax evasion, embezzlement, impersonation, fake identity, stolen funds, or deceptive activity.
- Illegal goods, illegal services, illegal fundraising, or any activity unlawful where Ebun, the user, the donor, the recipient, the payment provider, or the beneficiary operates.
- Campaigns that misrepresent recipient identity, campaign purpose, funding need, project status, delivery capacity, use of funds, evidence, outcomes, or affiliation.
- Campaigns that promote hate, violence, harassment, exploitation, human trafficking, abuse, terrorism, extremist activity, or discrimination.
- Weapons, ammunition, controlled substances, illegal drugs, cannabis, tobacco, adult content, sexual services, gambling, betting, lotteries, raffles, sweepstakes, prize promotions, or gaming.
- Cryptocurrency, token sales, investment schemes, debt, equity, securities, lending, credit repair, debt settlement, savings schemes, cooperatives, speculative agriculture investments, or financial services unless expressly approved by Ebun and supported by payment partners.
- Political fundraising, candidate funding, partisan campaign activity, lobbying, or election-related activity unless expressly approved by Ebun in writing.
- Reward-based, equity-based, debt-based, speculative, or commercial crowdfunding.
- Medical, health, emergency, disaster, or humanitarian claims that are false, unverifiable, exploitative, unsafe, or unsupported by appropriate review.
- Any transaction designed to split, structure, cycle, disguise, layer, or route funds to avoid screening, donation limits, monitoring, chargeback controls, tax rules, or payout review.
- Any activity that creates unacceptable chargeback, fraud, legal, reputational, sanctions, regulatory, or payment-network risk for Ebun or its partners.
4. Restricted Activities Requiring Ebun Approval
Some activities may be allowed only after enhanced review. These include:
- High-value campaigns.
- Cross-border projects or payouts.
- Projects involving emergency relief, disaster response, medical treatment, vulnerable populations, cash-equivalent support, government entities, religious institutions, politically sensitive causes, or high-risk geographies.
- Campaigns involving multiple beneficiaries, indirect beneficiaries, or complex payout routing.
- Any project category that Ebun, a payment provider, a bank, card network, or regulator designates as higher risk.
Ebun may require enhanced KYC/KYB, source-of-funds information, beneficial ownership information, project documentation, use-of-funds evidence, payout documentation, recipient verification, additional attestations, or ongoing reporting.
5. Donations, Holds, Refunds, And Payouts
Ebun collects eligible donations through approved payment providers, maintains donation ledger records, and disburses funds only through approved payout routes after readiness and compliance checks.
Ebun may decline, pause, hold, refund, reverse, or cancel a donation or payout when required by law, payment partners, banking partners, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, fraud controls, project review, donor dispute risk, or this policy.
Unless a project states otherwise, Ebun uses flexible funding. If a project does not meet its full target, approved funds may still be used for the verified project purpose after closeout review. Cancelled, misrepresented, sanctioned, prohibited, or otherwise ineligible projects may remain payout-blocked and may be subject to refund or cancellation review.
6. User Duties
Users must provide accurate, complete, current, and truthful information. Users must not omit material facts, conceal beneficial owners, misstate affiliations, disguise payment purpose, reuse another person's identity, or use Ebun to route funds for another undisclosed party.
Organizations, institutions, and vendors must use funds only for the approved project purpose, maintain supporting records, cooperate with review, provide evidence when requested, and promptly report changes that may affect eligibility, compliance, delivery, or payout readiness.
7. Monitoring And Enforcement
Ebun may monitor account activity, project activity, donation activity, payout activity, device and session signals, payment metadata, project evidence, and platform behavior to detect prohibited activity, fraud, sanctions risk, AML/CFT/CPF risk, abuse, or policy violations.
Ebun may take any action it determines is appropriate, including requesting more information, delaying checkout, pausing funding, holding payout, removing content, rejecting a project, restricting an account, issuing refunds, escalating to compliance review, reporting to payment partners or authorities, or permanently banning a user.
8. Appeals
If Ebun restricts a project, account, donation, or payout, the affected user may contact support with relevant documentation. Ebun may decline to provide detailed reasons when disclosure would create legal, sanctions, AML, fraud, security, payment-network, or platform-safety risk.
9. Changes
Ebun may update this policy at any time. Continued use of Ebun after an update means you accept the updated policy.
